A small Portuguese installation company from Porto Covo, on the Alentejo coast, became the latest Portuguese firm to register in Norway on Tuesday. Garizo e Machado Lda entered Norway’s Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities on 28 October 2026 as a Norwegian-registered foreign enterprise (NUF), describing itself as a contractor for technical installations in data centres: installation, repair and maintenance adapted to data-centre environments. A day earlier, Giga Plus, Unipessoal Lda, from Odemira, registered through the same Bergen law firm. In Sweden, public company data shows a parallel pattern: at least nine Portuguese companies have been assigned Swedish organisation numbers as foreign legal entities in 2026, seven of them since 24 July.

None of these registrations is large on its own. Together, they show how a growing number of Portuguese small contractors (construction, installation and machinery repair) are organising themselves to work directly on Nordic sites rather than only as subcontracted labour.

Sweden: nine registrations so far in 2026

Foreign companies that carry out work in Sweden without a Swedish branch receive an organisation number beginning with 502 from the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket), usually together with F-tax approval, which allows Swedish customers to pay them without withholding tax. Searching the business database allabolag.se for Portuguese company-form names (“Unipessoal” and “Lda”) returns the following 2026 registrations:

Construction and building installation dominate. The Izoref Iberia registration from Peniche gives a visiting address on Drottninggatan in Boden, in Norrbotten, the region where Sweden’s largest industrial projects are concentrated. Luso Blade Services, registered on 9 October, is the newest entry. It is based in Santo Isidoro, Marco de Canaveses, and registered for machinery repair and maintenance.

Wind work is a thread

Several 2025 registrations carry names and activity codes pointing at wind and energy work: Rogerwind (Paços de Brandão; industrial machinery installation, March 2025), SQA-Renewables (Belmonte; electrical construction and installation, May 2025), Wind Cove (Póvoa de Varzim; repair of machinery and electrical equipment, June 2025) and WindJMPSGhost (Castelo Branco; building installations, July 2025). Portugal has a deep pool of wind-turbine technicians trained on its own onshore fleet and at the Vestas, Siemens Gamesa and Enercon operations in the country, and Nordic turbine service is a natural outlet. NSHQ found the same pattern in Norway in early October, where Portuguese wind rope-access and furnace-insulation crews dominated new branch registrations.

Norway: eleven branches this year

Norway’s register now lists 11 NUF branches with a Portuguese business address registered since 1 January 2026, against six in the whole of 2025, according to a Brønnøysund Register Centre query on 29 October. Since NSHQ’s count on 3 October, three more have appeared: Caramelaventureiro from Palmela (automation and control engineering, 6 October), Giga Plus (27 October) and Garizo e Machado (28 October). Data centres are a recurring theme. Norway is one of Europe’s fastest-growing data-centre markets, and Portugaland Portugal’s own build-out at Sines has trained installers who can now sell that experience north.rsquo;s own data-centre build-out, led by the Start Campus project in Sines (the municipality that includes Porto Covo), has created local demand for exactly this kind of installer.

Why it matters for the corridor

Most corridor coverage counts large deals. These registrations show the other half of Portuguese exports to the Nordics: services sold on site by firms with a handful of people. Registering directly is the step that lets a Portuguese firm invoice a Swedish or Norwegian main contractor itself, rather than sending workers through an agency. It also brings obligations: Swedish F-tax and VAT, Norwegian tax and VAT rules for foreign enterprises, and posted-worker notifications in both countries. Firms that handle those properly are better placed to win repeat work and, over time, direct contracts.

What to watch

Whether the wind-related registrations turn into named turbine-service contracts, and whether Garizo e Machado and Giga Plus surface on a named Norwegian data-centre project. New Portuguese companies with verified Nordic operations are added to the directory of Portuguese companies in the Nordics; Nordic firms active in Portugal are in the directory of Nordic companies in Portugal. Nordic public contracts open to Portuguese bidders are on the tenders page.
